Shimano Ultegra 14000 XTE - The new version of Ultegra!
The Ultegra XTE and XSE were built on Shimano bestsellers and have really stirred up the mid-price sector in the long-cast reel segment. The elegant housings have been equipped with the most prominent Shimano Long-Cast technologies, so that they far exceed what anglers expect from a reel in this price range and are well on the way to becoming bestsellers across Europe.

Shimano has exclusively developed the Super Slow Oscillation, which is what prompts many anglers to fully rely on Shimano reels and buy the Ultegra XTE and XSE equipped with this technology. Combined with all the other technical features of our long range Superstars, these are hard to ignore. Not only do you cast further with them, they also allow safe fights, are more robust and also match with pretty much every rod design. Carp anglers will prefer the XTE's dark "Stelath" design. For surf anglers or those who prefer brighter colors, the silver XSE design offers a great alternative.

Regardless of the design, you can be sure that you have made an excellent choice. The latest Shimano technologies are installed inside the light and at the same time robust Ci4+ housing: The Hagane gear and X-Ship were combined with Infinity Drive and Silent-Drive to guarantee smooth cranking and noise-free running.

But this first impression should not hide the fact that the Ultegras are workhorses that deliver more power under pressure than is generally necessary. Although the inner workings of the reel represent another masterpiece of engineering, it is primarily the outstanding long-casting properties that make anglers reach for the Ultegra XTE and XSE. The Super Slow 5 Oscillation ensures outstanding line lay, which is proven to be responsible for low-friction line pay-off when casting.

But there are other long-cast features in the XTE and XSE models: Rigid Cast prevents the line from jumping off the line at the moment you let the line fly through the rings. The parallel body design sends the line at the perfect angle towards the rod's leader. As the line flows over the aluminum AR-C spool's discharge edge, the line unwinds with almost no friction. The result is outstanding casting performance, which is otherwise not found in reels in this price segment.
